Knight Rider

As I walked out of our Fifth Avenue office last week, I heard the unmistakable sound of the Knight Rider theme tune being blasted out by some guy across the street, eager to please the passers by and tempt them into a donation. It was a blast from the past.

Here we are eighteen years into the 21st century where there is the technology to talk into your watch and use it to summon your autonomous vehicle. If you watched Knight Rider in the 1980s, then you’ll appreciate just how amazing that is. Watch, phone and car technology has much evolved, artificial intelligence is a reality, and voice recognition actually works.

And then there is trading…

In some areas of our industry, trading is still stuck in the 1980s (e.g. RFQs in OTC markets). But it doesn’t have to be, and that’s where QB is here to help. QB provides technology that can help institutional clients completely re-define their approach to best execution, and change how they trade. Wikipedia defines the Knight Rider car “KITT” as an “advanced artificially intelligent, self-aware and nearly indestructible car”. It is the perfect partner for the crime fighting Michael Knight. QB algorithms deserve a similar description. They are the perfect partner for the diligent trader, providing cutting edge algorithmic execution technology, in a symbiosis of human and machine.

Utilizing machines to optimally work for you is at the heart of the QB service. In other areas of our industry where it does feel like 2018 (e.g. CLOBs – Central Limit Order Books), machines are prevalent, and to trade effectively you need to have a good machine working for you, otherwise you can’t compete. (Machines = algorithms: these can range from the most sophisticated liquidity providing, HFT strategies to more plain vanilla execution algorithms, and everything in between). QB provides the most advanced, intelligent algorithms it can to arm its clients and position them for optimal execution.

You can’t yet speak into your watch for this, but you can click in your front end and summon a QB algorithm to work for you. It’s your partner in saving alpha.
