The QB App

We recently announced the launch of our two new Bloomberg apps, “QB” and “SIMQB”. This is an exciting development as we can now provide our clients with easy access to our algorithms, both in production (“QB” = real trading) and in simulation (“SIMQB” = test trading), via their Bloomberg terminal.

It is important to note that QB is front-end neutral, meaning that our aim is to integrate with any preferred workflow of our clients. To that end, we are connected with more than 20 OMS and EMS vendors. We also support many clients who route to us via FIX from their proprietary systems. We are an OMS/EMS neutral and broker neutral provider of advanced algorithmic execution strategies. However, our Bloomberg apps are especially compelling for three special reasons:

1. Access to Legger: Unlimited “n” leg, multi-asset, synthetic spread trading algorithms are much harder for EMS vendors to support within their existing framework for algorithmic order entry tickets. QB has built what we believe to be the optimum order entry window for this algorithm, easily accessible within Bloomberg.

2. Access to Cash Treasuries: Outside of futures, QB also supports the 6 “on the run” U.S. cash treasuries. Historically, this market has been RFQ only. Consequently, EMS vendors, who have been used to supporting algorithmic execution in equities and futures for years, have not built out support for agency execution flows in these securities. We have helped solve this distribution limitation by supporting access within our app. Our clients can use the generic Bloomberg symbology (e.g. CT10 Govt for the on the run 10-year) and see indicative, composite pricing in the app next to the order entry ticket. Launching a QB algorithm to execute these securities (using whatever electronic liquidity the client has access to) takes just a few clicks. Those few clicks are of huge consequence – often providing clients with the ability to work orders in these markets for the first time, attempt to capture spread, hide their footprint rather than broadcasting their intentions, as well as crucially allowing for measurement of execution performance.

3. Access to QB’s Simulator: QB operates a highly realistic, real-time, simulation environment. Completely unique in the industry, this is full replication of exchange matching engines and allows for thorough testing of QB’s algorithms. The second QB app on Bloomberg (SIMQB) provides easy access to this Simulator for clients to try out our execution strategies as and when they choose. This service is coupled with QB’s proprietary TCA platform, allowing for thorough performance reviews of all orders executed in the Simulator.

We look forward to continuing to work with our clients on tools that complement their existing electronic execution workflow and help them better exploit the QB value proposition.
